Sotogrande sits apart from the rest of the Costa del Sol, both geographically and in character. Built around polo, golf (including Real Club Valderrama, host of the 1997 Ryder Cup) and a genuinely upscale marina, it attracts a buyer profile focused on privacy, space and long-term family use rather than short-stay rental income.
Sotogrande Alto and Sotogrande Costa offer some of the largest villa plots on the coast, while the marina area provides a more compact, walkable base with direct berthing for boat owners. Guadiaro and San Roque Club, just inland, offer relatively better value while remaining part of the wider Sotogrande community and its private schools.
Gibraltar airport is around 20 minutes away and Málaga just over the hour, which keeps Sotogrande well connected despite its more secluded feel.
